Kindra Browning, DO
Dr. Browning is a mom of one with two more adoptions on the way and a board-certified physician at Union Hospital in New Philadelphia, OH, who specializes in the treatment of hypertension and diabetes and in preventive medicine.
How many children do you have? One with two more adoptions on the way. We will hopefully be leaving in a few months for baby number two.
What’s your specialty? Internal medicine with a focus on diabetes and prevention
What’s your favorite parenting tip? Never Ever Ever yell until you need it. Then when you do–wow they listen!!!
What has surprised you most about parenting? I didn’t know it would come natural for me, but it did, and I’m thankful for it.
How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? One word: dip! She will dip anything in low-fat ranch dressing or a little caramel.
How do you work exercise into your family’s life? I get up every day at 5 am, and I do one hour of exercise four or five days per week. We love to walk and go hiking so these are worked in as possible. I took Katrina skiing last night for the first time!
How do you recharge your batteries? Friends that aren’t in medicine. Church and study of Christian principles and writings. Reading a really good internal medicine journal. Cooking. Leaving work at work and home at home. Hammer down your call schedule early in your career. It took me a bout five years to position myself in my “dream” job, but if you keep trying and negotiating, you will get there.
