What surprised you most about parenting? I was most surprised how different my children were.
How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? I always provided fresh fruits and vegetables at every meal. Kids will eventually eat what is served to them if they do not think there are other choices. If they know french fries are an option, of course they will hold out.
How do you work exercise into your family’s life? I think an active lifestyle is one of the keys to developing healthy kids. My kids always had active afternoons. They are horse lovers and athletes and always had strong lean bodies because of the exercise they got. They never sat around in the house. Now that they are young adults ,they know that exercise is just part of a balanced life. I wish I had known that much younger. When I needed to lose weight, it took me many years to learn that intermittently high intensity exercise was a major key.
How do you recharge your batteries? I love to hike. In Connecticut, I’d spend hours in the woods. When I’m in Florida, I love to walk on the beach. I love to paint as well. Also I’m a spiritualist, and I believe in the importance of living in the moment.
