Dianna Kim, MD

Dr. Kim is a mom of a six-year-old son, four-year-old daughter, and two-year-old son and an ob/gyn in private practice in Vernon Hills, IL.

How many children do you have? I have a six-year-old son, a four-year-old daughter, and a two-year-old son.

What’s your specialty? I’m an ob-gyn.

What’s your favorite parenting tip? Remember to have fun, but also get lots of rest. Nap during the day when the baby’s sleeping.

What has surprised you most about parenting? How much your life changes. Your life will be 100 percent different after your baby is born.

How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? We make it into a game. At times when my daughter’s weight was too low and off the growth curve, we’d distract her and sneak food into her mouth. We were desperate to get her to eat.

How do you work exercise into your family’s life? We play fun, active games like peek-a-boo, tag, and hide and seek.

How do you recharge your batteries? I sleep hard when I have the chance.

Dr. Kim’s Q&As

I’m going to the store to register for baby things and I’m frankly overwhelmed. What did you do?

I have to pee all of the time, and it burns when I go. Did you have a urinary tract infection and did it feel like this?
