How many children do you have? I have two children.

What’s your specialty? I’m a psychiatrist and psychotherapist.

What’s your favorite parenting tip? Don’t listen to too many people and don’t read too much.

What has surprised you most about parenting? How much having kids changes you.

How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? That is a challenge. We have a rule that they have to taste one bite of everything on their plates. If they don’t like it, they don’t have to finish it. That keeps them trying new foods.

Also, I joined an organic buying club. We get a box of fruits and vegetables each week. One week, we got purple cauliflower. I have never seen a five-year-old so excited to eat cauliflower!

How do you work exercise into your family’s life? I try not to make it exercise. We take long walks by the water and play in the yard and at the park.

How do you recharge your batteries? I find it’s hard to get out again after I’m home, so I often take a little time for myself on my way home from work.

I schedule girls’ nights out with my friends. Now that our kids are older, my husband and I go out more on weekends. I also love the spa!
