My baby goes for her next well visit, and I’m concerned about having her get the shots. Did you have your baby vaccinated?
Our Mommy MD Guide’s reply: I had my babies get all of their vaccinations, and I have no regrets. I’m a huge believer in immunization. I believe that immunization ranks up there in terms of one of the biggest public health achievements of the 20th century along with clean water. Yes, there are risks, but there are risks to everything. That argument doesn’t sit well with me. There’s a reason we don’t see polio or certain other diseases anymore, and that is immunizations. Parents need to be very careful where they get their information from regarding immunzations as there is a lot of inaccurate and unfounded “facts” out there. The MMR/autism controversy is the perfect example. Unfortunately, it has probably led to some of the increase in measles we’ve seen, due to parents not getting that vaccine. I don’t regret immunizing my kids at all.
