Restless Legs Syndrome
I’m in my second trimester, and I can’t stop moving my legs, especially at night. I think it’s restless legs syndrome. Did you have it, and how did you cope?
Our Mommy MD Guide’s reply: During my pregnancies, I had a bit of restless legs syndrome (RLS). I just put up with it. RLS is a big problem in pregnancy, and it’s a major contributor to poor sleep.
Sometimes RLS can be caused by low iron stores, so it can be a symptom of anemia. It might be helpful to ask your doctor or midwife to check your iron levels.
Yoga, and exercise in general, may both be helpful to treat RLS. Try to release as much tension during the day as possible. The best news is, the RLS will likely go away after the baby is born.
