Weaning

How did you wean your toddler?

Our Mommy MD Guide’s reply: I nursed my sons for a long time. When they were each around two years old, I wanted to stop the middle-of-the-night nursings. We all slept in a family bed, so for about a month, I slept in another room, and my husband soothed the boys if they woke in the night. It took several weeks of protest, but I needed to stop those nighttime feedings. At that point, I needed to take care of myself. There’ a time for everything, and sometimes it hurts a parent to say no, even if you know it’s for the best. It’s important to listen to that voice.
