The Fresh 20
After I changed my activity level, the other big part was changing our diet. I know HOW to cook healthy foods, but figuring out what to cook each night was emotionally exhausting for me. A friend introduced me to The Fresh 20, a fabulous online meal-planning guide. I grocery shop on the weekend and then do most of my meal prep on Saturday or Sunday. I can have a good, healthy meal on the table in 10 to 20 minutes most nights, and I have healthy leftovers for lunch the next day. My husband lost a ridiculous amount of weight the first two weeks we did it, and it’s definitely keeping our weights where they need to be. (As a bonus, we’re spending a lot less money on food and are wasting less, too)
The Fresh 20 is online at TheFresh20.com. It’s a subscription system, and you sign up for a membership. It costs $5 per month, billed at five-month increments. You receive weekly dinner menus, which are posted each Friday evening, so you can shop and organize, and even do a lot of the cooking over the weekend and you don’t have to worry about what’s for dinner! The weekly menus feature complete meals with sides, a variety of cuisines to eliminate dinner boredom, seasonal ingredients, weekly prep guides to help you get organized, and balanced nutrition. They also have vegetarian and gluten free menus.
Each week you also get shopping lists that are organized by category to make shopping easier and include cost estimates to help with budgeting.
