How many children do you have and what are their ages? I have two children, ages 10 years and 21 months.
How did you come up with the idea for your company? Kyndall’s personal style and fashion is often inspired by art and other works of beauty. After graduating from the University of Maryland College Park in 1991, Kyndall embarked on an art career working for various artists promoting their work. Eventually she moved into corporate sales but her heart remained in the creative arts. Since then she has studied art and design in various places and forums. After several years in the art industry, Kyndall decided to start a family with her husband. Following her first child, she was a stay-at-home mom for 6 years. After having her second child, Kyndall decided it was time to re-enter the work force with aplomb, leveraging her knowledge of art and passion for style. She also decided to launch her business and live her dream as a style and fit expert.
What’s your favorite parenting tip? Talk, talk, and more talk. Keep the lines of communication open. I want my children to know that they can always come to me no matter what.
How do you get your family to eat healthy food and/or exercise? I get them involved in the process. We sit together and make the grocery list, and I let them pick their favorite fruits and vegetables. We then plan the meals and sometimes cook together. We have even planned family outings to the farmer’s markets. It becomes fun and helps create together time. When they have participated and made choices, they feel empowered and are more likely to cooperate.
How do you recharge your batteries? I am a big believer in scheduling. My kids feel more secure and are at ease when we live by a schedule even if it’s a looser schedule during the summer months. Bedtime for the little ones is an important scheduled event. It is important for me as well because it allows me time in the evening to unwind from the day and spend some me time. Sometimes I take a hot bath, shop online or often times I flick mindlessly through the TV channels. That alone time is valuable. I feel more refreshed and ready to take on the day again.
