How many children do you have and what age groups? We have one son, Luke, who turned four-and-a-half in September 2009.

What’s the best parenting advice you’ve ever received? Maintaining a sense of humor is the key to keeping a sense of equilibrium.

What’s your own favorite parenting tip? Within reason, encourage your kids to have their own voice–and use it. Again, within reason.

What do you wish you knew earlier about parenting? I wish I knew how little I think I know. Plus, how all those parenting plans I had made in my head before Luke was born get revised and updated almost on a daily basis.

How do you get your kids to eat healthy food? As often as possible, I make sure healthy choices go along with the “not-so-healthy, yet much preferred” foods he eats. Oh, and having a super-healthy eater husband helps as well because my own example leaves something to be desired.

How do you work exercise into your family’s life? Lots of backyard time and trips to the local playgrounds.

How do you recharge your batteries? That would be the precious hour or so post-Luke bedtime. Also, lunchtime at work, when there IS a lunchtime. And the moments on weekend mornings when Frank and I just sit and talk.
