Sylvia is a mom of a 16-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son and a nutrition and culinary consultant.

How did you come up with the idea for your company? I have such a passion for helping our Hispanic communities become nutrition savvy consumers so it was something that was born out of love for my people.

What’s your favorite parenting tip? All foods can be part of a healthy diet as long as we consume them with moderation.  Parents need to relax and enjoy family meals together. Just make sure you’re not overeating any foods.

How do you get your family to eat healthy food and/or exercise? Role modeling!  I set an example and they follow.  I tried to cook and involve them in the cooking and meal planning.  Also, I exercise every day!  It is so rewarding to see them enjoying all the wonderful things that a healthy lifestyle brings.

How do you recharge your batteries? I love taking “me” time, including getting pedicures, reading my favorite books or magazines, or going out with my friends. It’s so therapeutic to make time to do the things I love to do.
