How did you come up with the idea for your company? My husband and I met in Chinese medicine school and decided to open up a practice together after graduation. I feel that our synergy is amazing and our creative juices really flow when we work together. We have collaborated on just about everything including developing our acupuncture practice, doing clinical research on acupuncture’s effects on fertility, creating a fertility yoga DVD, developing a pediatric pain management program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, creating a line of medicinal chocolates.
What’s your favorite parenting tip? Life is not scripted so never have any definitive plan about what’s going to happen because it will most likely change. Parenting is all about a constant state of evolution and following the Tao.
How do you get your family to eat healthy food and/or exercise? It comes naturally to my husband and I since we work in holistic health so our daughter has never really seen anything unhealthy! Since she was about three months old, we have been going to the farmers markets on a weekly basis so she gets to interact with the farmers and sees what food looks like intact. We are locavores and buy organic produce and sustainably-raised animal proteins. We had our daughter participate in our juicing routine since she was about one year old. We go on family hikes and walks and play our XBox Kinect several times a week.
How do you recharge your batteries? I really enjoy cooking. I personally find it so relaxing and gratifying to spend several hours in the kitchen creating something delicious from scratch.
